As
far back as anyone can remember a Dalgleish has ran the Shop at 11
Montgomery Street. Alex’s father Bobby took over the Newsagents from his
father in the 1950’s. An avid shooter and gun collector he started the gun
shop in the back of the newsagents. I would say a lot of people didn’t
realise that it was the only place where you could get a Sunday paper, a
packet of sweets and a box of 12 bore cartridges. This was where Alex at
an early age began his career as a gunsmith. |

In
1973 Alex started his apprenticeship with David McKay Brown making Round
Actions in Hamilton, learning all his gun making skills he became the
workshop manager in 1980. In 1981 he left to start his own Gunsmith business
at the back of Montgomery Street repairing shotguns, rifles and making his
own shotguns. When his father died in 1985 Alex took over the shop turning
the Newsagents into a retail shop expanding his stock of quality guns to
include all manner of shooting equipment. |
